7th Annual Awards Benefit Gala, 2010

 

The institute for the Advancement of Multicultural & Minority Medicine’s Annual Awards Benefit Gala showcases distinguished individuals who have overcome severe medical challenges; made extraordinary contributions through service; and educated communities nationwide. Hear first hand accounts of survivors who tell of their struggles and victory with cancer and other diseases.

The 7th Annual Awards Gala was led by Honorary Committee Chair, Mrs. Michelle Cross Fenty, Esq; Honorary Committee General Chair Lavdena A, Orr, MD, FAAP; Gala Vice Chairs; IAMMM Board of Directors; and Mistress of Ceremonies Daphne M, Reid, Actress & Co-Founder New Millennium Studios.  

The 2010 Soar High Leadership Award recipients were Anne C. Beal, MD, MPH, President, Aetna Foundation; Margot James Copeland, President, The Links, Inc.; and Hon. David Catania, DC Councilmember At-Large, Chair, Committee on Health.

The 2010 Eagle Fly Free Award recipients were General Colin Powell, American’s Promise (Prostate Cancer Survivor); SSG Stephanie Mason (Traumatic Brain Injury Survivor), Army Reservist, Walter Reed Hospital; Monica Thompson, John Thompson III Foundation (Breast Cancer Survivor); F. Alexis H. Roberson, President & CEO, Opportunities Industrialization Center (Multiple Myeloma Survivor); and Maimah Karmo, President, Tigerly Foundation, (Breast Cancer).
